Connect (or reconnect) a LinkedIn profile to Shield

On Shield you can connect one or more LinkedIn profiles. In order to track these LinkedIn profiles, they need to stay connected.

This article will guide you through:


1 - How to connect or reconnect a LinkedIn profile

When you want to connect or reconnect a LinkedIn profile, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the LinkedIn profile you want to connect

  2. Log in to Shield and go to the People* page
    ​*If you don’t see the People page, you might not have the required admin or owner permissions. Check your welcome email from Shield for your token.

  3. Find the profile you want to connect, click it

  4. Copy the profile token

  5. Insert the profile token in the Shield Chrome extension

    • Press the puzzle icon at the right of your browser

    • Click on the 'pin' icon to easily find the Shield extension

    • Click on the extension to insert the token.

  6. Click "Connect profile"

  7. Click "Connect a different profile" to link the next profile while staying connected. This will log you out of LinkedIn, but the connection will remain active.

  8. Repeat for the next profile(s).

2 - How to check the connection status

Connection status is found on both the People page and Profiles page.

There are 3 types of connection status:

  • Connected: The account is connected and data is flowing

  • Disconnected: Connection has been lost involuntarily, and the Profile needs to be reconnected

  • Not connected: No LinkedIn profile has ever been connected, or a LinkedIn profile has been intentionally removed.
